Emotion-Focused Therapy

 Emotion-focused therapy is an approach that is sensitive to the current emotional experiences as they are happening in the present.  By unpacking the emotional components, we can understand and make meaning of what lies beneath old hurts and stuck patterns. Often, people get stuck on surface-level issues, but healing, understanding, and lasting change happens on a deeper level.  For example, it’s not about focusing on a person being late, but about the emotional impact it had on you, the meaning you associated with it, and what you needed.
