Sometimes you know why you are struggling. You may understand where your patterns came from, recognize the impact of your past, and still find yourself asking:
“Okay, but what do I do now?”
Solution focused counselling looks at what you want to be different in your life and what is already helping, even in small ways.
It does not mean ignoring the past or pretending difficult things did not happen. We can acknowledge what you have been through while also paying attention to what is happening now and what you want to change.
This approach can be especially helpful when you are looking for practical support with questions like:
Sometimes you do not need another explanation of why something is happening.
You need a plan for what to do when it happens again.
Solution focused counselling can include practical tools and strategies that you can use in your everyday life.
Depending on what you are dealing with, we might work on:
We can make these specific to you and the situations you are actually dealing with.
The focus is not on giving you a list of things you are supposed to do. We look at what is realistic for you, what fits the situation, and what you are willing and able to try.
Sometimes having a plan before a difficult situation happens can make it easier to respond differently when the moment comes.
For some people, practical support is exactly what they need at a particular point in their life.
For others, the difficulty they are facing is connected to trauma, attachment wounds, emotional neglect, narcissistic abuse, OCD, anxiety, or long standing relationship patterns.
We can work with both.
Sometimes understanding where a pattern came from is important. Other times, you may already understand it and need help figuring out how to respond differently now.
Our work can shift depending on what you need.
I may draw from solution focused work alongside attachment focused, parts based, experiential, relational, EMDR, IFS, or other approaches when they fit what you are experiencing.
Change does not always look dramatic.
There may already be moments when things are different. You may have handled a difficult conversation differently, said no when you would normally have said yes, or noticed an old pattern starting and responded differently.
Maybe you got through a difficult situation in a way you would not have six months ago.
These moments can be easy to overlook, especially when you are used to focusing on what still feels hard.
Solution focused work helps us notice these changes and understand what made them possible.
If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to start, you do not have to have everything figured out before reaching out. We can talk about what you are looking for and whether working together feels like a good fit.
